The Zalacsány Lake (reservoir)

On the border of Zalacsány, in the middle of a forested area, a reservoir was created in 1991 from a small brook. The average depth of the beautiful fishing lake is 2,5 metres, but it can reach up to 5 metres on the side of the dam. It is a well-maintained area with a water surface of 11 hectares. Thanks to the fish breeding that dates back 30 years, the lake is full of carps that weigh more than 20 kilograms, large catfish, pike perch, northern pike and other species of fish.

Zala Springs Golf Resort

The Zala Springs Golf Resort is situated in a 160-hectare area, in the middle of the picturesque Zala valley. The 18-hole championship golf course is 6,351 metres long, surrounded by natural reserves, vineyards and lakes, suitable to host all international tournaments both for professionals and amateurs. The Zala Springs Golf Resort also provides comfort, fine dining, individual and group instruction for the visitors of the golf club.

Körtvélyesi hiking trail

The 3,1-kilometre long Körtvélyesi hiking trail can be found alongside the Zalacsány reservoir, winding up and down the hill next to the lake. The path leads the visitors into a picturesque forest, where 11 informative signs tell the tourists about the plants, tree species, wildlife, special characteristics and forestry activities of the area. It takes approximately 1,5 hours to complete the trail.

Kehidakustány – Adventure bath and Spa (4 km)

It is an especially family-friendly, modern, high quality spa. The 34-36°C sulphuric medicinal water, which has an outstanding calcium-magnesium and hydrogen carbonate content in Hungary, provides real recreation. It can have a healing effect in the case of skin conditions, gynaecological problems, digestive diseases, metabolic disturbances and it can also be used in rehabilitation after ortophaedic and accidental injuries. Kehida Termál awaits its guests with Mediterranean interiors, 12 pools, a 94-meter-long giant slide, outdoor kamikaze slides, outdoor 34-36 °C hot and cold-water and thermal pools, a hot tub island, a lazy river ride, a children’s paddling pool, a pool bar and many other fascinating experiences. The Sauna Oasis works wonders for the body, it is good for the skin, the blood circulation, and the respiratory tracts, and also refreshes your soul.

Hévíz Lake and Medicinal Spa (10 km)

The Hévíz Lake, which is one of the biggest natural thermal lakes of Europe, is suitable for bathing even in winter as its temperature never drops below 24 °C. The lake in Hévíz is the world’s largest biologically active lake with its natural hot thermal water and peat at the bottom of the lake. Due to the emerging karst water’s temperature and composition the lake’s water has been used for therapeutic purposes for a long time. The therapy’s indications are the following: certain chronic inflammatory gynecological diseases, a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders, skin conditions, digestive diseases, metabolic disturbances.

Among its pools we can find adventure-, medicinal-, physiotherapy pools and weight bath. A wide range of physiotherapeutical treatments are provided for the guests. The interaction between the thermal lake and the several meters thick peat layer on the bottom of the lake results in the formation of mud, which concentrates the chemical properties of the thermal water and enhances its effect.

Zalaszentgrót - Szent Gróth Thermal Bath (17 km)

There are 4 open-air pools in Szent Gróth Thermal Bath: one thermal-, one swimming-, one children’s- and one adventure pool. Apart from these, there are 4 pools covered with a roof. It is an evidence for the exceptional quality of the water that NaturAqua mineral water comes from the same source. Other services provided: sauna, steam cabin, massage, slide, playground, aquafitness, water dodgem, buffet, restaurant. Children are invited to participate in an arts and crafts workshop every weekend.

Beaches in Keszthely, alongside lake Balaton (17 km)

The City Beach is one of the most beautfiful places in Keszthely with 35,000 m2 of sunbathing area and 20 restaurants. It provides a wide range of services, such as mini golf, casino, table tennis, massage, electric boat rental, air castle, trampoline, Zorb, paddle boat, snooky, sunbeds, giant slide. Szigetfürdő is a unique alloy of modern and authentical elements as it has recently been renovated to satisfy all needs while not altering its original form. The Helikon Beach can be found in the southern part of Keszthely, with 19,000 m2 of sunbathing area and numerous restaurants. It is especially recommended for families. Some of its services: paddle boat, snooky, sunbeds, massage.

Zalaegerszeg - AquaCity Waterslide and Adventure Park (27 km)

The biggest aquapark in the Transdanubian region provides unique experiences for its visitors. AquaCity is situated on a 7,5 hectare-area, with 6,000 m2 water surface, several pools, 10 giant slides and awaits its visitors with various adventures on land and water.

In AquaCity you can try the largest wave pool of Hungary, you can drift in the popular Slow River on a huge swim ring, or you can put your courage to the test by taking a deep jump in the diving pool. Not only can you relax in one of the jacuzzis, but you can also cool yourself in one of the swimming pools. Beach sport lovers won’t be bored either: beach volleyball, beach football courts and an outdoor fitness park provide ample opportunities to do sports. Children and babies can enjoy their time in the pools that were designed to suit their needs: they can use the mini slides, play with a water cannon, climb up the climbing wall, not to mention the playground that is located next to the pools. From time to time concerts and circus shows make AquaCity’s summers even more exciting!

Zalaegerszeg - Thermal Bath (27 km)

The Zalaegerszeg Thermal Bath is located next to AquaCity and is open all year round. Thanks to its modern air-cleaning system, the air in the bathing area is pollen-free, thus it provides an enjoyable experience for those who suffer from allergies. The medicinal water of Zalaegerszeg can be used for therapeutic purposes in case of arthritis, muscle pains and chronic gynaecological inflammations.

The glass-dome structure on top of the building offers an amazing sight day and night. Night-time visitors of the bath can enjoy a bit of light-therapy during their visit. Bath temperatures vary from 33-38 ℃. Relaxation and unforgettable experiences go hand in hand, and families can also enjoy themselves. Kids will not be bored in the kids’ pools among the different slides and toys, while adults can have fun in the adults’ pool which is equipped with a coctail bar, back massage and neck shower facilities.

Keszthely - Festetics Castle (17 km)

Festetics Castle is one of the masterpieces of Hungarian architecture, which includes an 18-room interior exhibition with original or authentically reconstructed inner areas and furniture, demonstrating 18th – 19th century aristocratic lifestyle. The most valuable part of the castle is Hungary’s one and only aristocratic private library that stayed intact, the furniture of which was made in a classicistic style. Other interesting exhibitions in the castle include a carriage exhibition, a palm house which is full of exotic plants, and which was created from the plans of the Eiffel Office. In the Balaton Wine House there are more than a 1,000 different types of wines from all around Hungary. We can also enjoy a hunting exhibition and Central Europe’s biggest historical model railway exhibition during our visit to the castle.

Zalaszántó Stupa (24 km)

The Peace Stupa stands on a mountain 316 meters high overlooking the lake Balaton. It is Europe's largest stupa standing 30 meters high and 24 meters wide. The Stupa symbolizes the mind of Buddha and his wisdom, compassion and love toward all living beings. It symbolizes peace, bliss and enlightenment. Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, consecrated the Stupa on 17th of June, 1993 with great joy. The Stupa contains the teachings and some relics of Buddha.

Zalaegerszeg - Göcsej Village Museum (27 km)

The Göcsej Village Museum is Hungary’s first open-air ethnographical museum (founded in 1968), in the area of which a 19th century village was reconstructed. The building complex includes 40 buildings, which were transported here from almost 25 different places. The buildings demonstrate a wide variety of typical 19th century rural houses. The visitors of the village museum can also admire the objects people used to use in this area.

Zalaegerszeg - Museum of the Hungarian Petroleum Industry (27 km)

Hungary’s 2nd biggest and Europe’s 2nd most important oil industrial museum, the Museum of the Hungarian Petroleum Industry was established in 1969. The 30,000 m2 open air exhibition aims to collect the objects and documentations of the history of the Hungarian hydrocarbon industry. In Zalaegerszeg, next to the Göcsej Village Museum, visitors can see the technical relics of hydrocarbon industry (mining industry, processing, transportation). The greatest number of oil rigs can be seen here in Hungary, three of which are 50 meters high. In its permanent exhibition rooms visitors can learn about the technological processes of the industry. In the statue park busts of outstanding experts can be seen.
